Able Magazine’s Social Media Editor, Claudia Foxcroft got to talk to STV Scotland Tonight alongside freelance journalist Michael McEwan about recent Britain’s Got Talent winner ‘Lost Voice Guy’ also known as Lee Ridley and what this means for empowering people with a disability.

The comedian, whose real name is Lee Ridley, will receive a £250,000 prize and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

The top two spots went to disabled comedians: Robert White, who has Asperger’s, and the winner, Lost Voice Guy, who has cerebral palsy.

Both White and Ridley, didn’t shy away from disability as part of their acts, with Lost Voice Guy performing using an electronic voice box, focusing upon exposing skewered perceptions of disability and the awkwardness that surrounds non-disabled people’s interaction with it.

For the final, Lee said: “When I am performing, it’s as if I have finally found my voice – and it’s a great feeling making people laugh.”
