Anyone can now enjoy the breeze through hair experience of being on a cycle. The front facing ‘loader’ can accommodate up to 230Kg (36 stone) and gives a driver’s viewpoint to the passenger. The wheelchair is fastened with Q-Straint fixings and the loader is kept level even when the cycle pitches slightly in the turn or on camber. Electrical assistance is also included (25-40km per charge) taking you around at a comfortable 8-15mph.

Sit to stand, all-terrain and certified by the Greenkeeper’s Association the Para Golfer takes through (hopefully not too often) the rough and rolls carefully over the greens. It keeps the golfer steady whilst allowing for low back rotation during the swing. Because it’s still driveable in the standing position the golfer can address the ball with precision and poise. It has also been adapted for shooting, fishing and carries a full bag of clubs too.

Enhance UK is a charity that’s worked with Spokz in giving disabled people healthy, social options. The Intimate Rider was developed as a sex aid for disabled people and consists of a bench and a rocking seat. The simple design lends itself to use in several positions.

Ideal for people that don’t like the idea of a mobility scooter, the Powatryke Cruiser allows people with balance difficulties to ‘twist from the wrist and go’. The 250 watt motor certainly isn’t slack and can be backed up by good old pedal power (to a top speed of just over 15mph) just for the sake of exercise. The large shopping basket and white wall tyres give the Cruiser a certain comfortable appeal.

The Overlander was originally designed as a way for a young child to be included in a trekking holiday. It lends itself very neatly to disabled people looking to do the same thing. It is, as you might expect, a chunky unit made from a frame akin to scaffolding and including side roll bars. The vehicle will travel at 5.5mph off-road and can handle an incline of 30°. It can be adjusted to accommodate two children; the steering can be simplified by fitting a simple forwards and backwards lever instead of a fiddly joystick.
