While disabled people take to the streets in protest at the impact of spending cuts, the government hands over £3m for more user-led organisations The Law Commission’s final proposals for reform of 60 years’ worth of adult social care statutes for England and Wales, are to be welcomed. It set out to review all legislation enabling services to be provided to older people, disabled people and those with mental health problems. There is now a much clearer sense than in the consultative plans that what is needed is a framework capable of accommodating further developments in personalisation and self-directed care and support
