Euans Guide, the disabled access reviews website and app, is celebrating its first birthday today.
Euan’s Guide was created by powerchair user Euan MacDonald and his sister Kiki, as they found it difficult to find information on where had suitable disabled access. The website enables users to share their experiences of disabled access at places, both across the UK and internationally. It has been designed with disabled people in mind and strives to be as informative and accessible as possible. It also available to be downloaded as an app.
There are now over 1,400 places on Euan’s Guide across more than 350 towns in the UK. The website has been endorsed by Stephen Hawking and JK Rowling, and it recently won the prestigious ‘People’s Choice’ award at the BT Infinity Lab Connected Society competition.
Euan said: “The past year has been incredible for Euan’s Guide and we are delighted that so many people are engaging with the website. By sharing experiences, we hope that the 11.6 million disabled people in the UK and their carers, friends and families will have greater choice both in their own towns and further afield.”
Euan’s Guide is also proud to be the lead sponsor of Disabled Access Day, a nationwide event that is taking place for the first time on 17th January 2015. Disabled Access Day asks disabled people to explore somewhere new in order to highlight accessible venues throughout the UK.
