Sarah Gordy, one of the most high profile actresses with Down’s syndrome and learning disability campaigner, Jane Raca, were recognised for their achievements in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in June.

Sarah has been one of the most groundbreaking learning disabled actresses, dancers and models in the country, appearing in many TV shows including Call the Midwife and Holby City and was the first actress with a learning disability to play the role of a character without a learning disability in a major theatre production. Most recently she has been working on a new play, Jellyfish, at the Bush Theatre in London (until 21 July 2018), becoming the first actor with a learning disability to play the lead role in a mainstream professional London theatre.

Jane has worked alongside the Royal Mencap Society to promote important issues for more than fi ve years. Her hard work with Mencap and beyond has been recognised and she will receive her award from the Queen later this year.
