With just one month to go, the Superhero Series powered by npower is calling on the final participants to join nearly 2,000 others at Dorney Lake on August 19th.
Big, bold and gutsy, Superhero Series powered by npower is the only sports series dedicated to the UK’s 12.9 million people with disabilities and long-term injuries. The Series removes equipment restrictions that prevent people from taking part and enables participants to unite with disabled and non-disabled family and friends to do as much or as little as they wish, with as much or as little time and support as they need.
Those signing up will be joining a whole host of celebrity Team Captains and World Para athletic champions including Jonnie Peacock, Kadeena Cox and Hannah Cockcroft who have already been paired with their competition winning teammates. The Superhero Tri event is set up so participants can take a stage each – whether that’s swimming, cycling and running/pushing. At its fullest this is a 750 meter swim, 20k bike ride and a 5k run/push.
In completing this course the teams can use any kit they wish, the emphasis is very much on fun, and mask, capes and pants over tights are positively encouraged. Paralympian and Superhero Series founder Sophia Warner said: “This is the final call out for Superheroes all across the UK to sign up to the first gutsy Superhero Series dedicated to them! It’s going to be a great day and we can’t wait for you to show us what you’ve got!”
The Superhero Series is also calling out for the nation’s most daring volunteers to sign up for the event at Dorney Lake on August 19th. There are a range of roles available that could well see people helping out the teams captained by David Weir and Dave Henson. Anyone able to find their inner Superhero and help out is welcome.
