Over 160 swimmers with a learning disability will be heading to Swansea on 9th and 10th July to compete in the 11th National Partnership Swimming Championships, hosted by learning disability charity Mencap and Special Olympics GB.

Paralympic Gold Medallist Jessica-Jane Applegate, who is also a Mencap ambassador, and elite swimmer Jack Thomas will also be heading to Wales National Pool Swansea for the event and will be challenging competitors to a race, in an effort to raise money for Mencap.

Some of the UK’s best swimmers with a learning disability, including 130 from Special Olympics GB, will be competing in a full programme of races, including 25m Backstroke and 800m Freestyle. The championships are run in partnership by Mencap, Special Olympics GB, British Swimming, Swim Wales and Swansea University, and sponsored by Westfield Health.

Spokespeople from Mencap and Special Olympics GB and competitors, will be available for interview on both days. Jessica-Jane Applegate will be available on Sunday and Jack Thomas will be available on both days.
