52 Lives aim to change someone’s life every week of the year. It is based on the simple premise that people are good and lots of good people working together can achieve amazing things. In order to help this very worth cause Homelands Trust recently provided Shona and her family with a free short break in association with ’52 lives’. We had the pleasure of Shona Foreman and her family staying with us this weekend in association with 52 lives (life #71). We have been overwhelmed with the donations and generosity of everyone.

Shona is 41 years old and lives with her husband and daughter. She has had a very tough few years, battling all different types of cancer. She was diagnosed with breast cancer last year which resulted in a full mastectomy. She was just recovering from that when she found out she also had cancer in one of her fingers, which then had to be amputated. In the past few months she discovered the cancer has also spread to other fingers, which may also have to be amputated. And on top of all of that she has vulval cancer which will mean more surgery and a painful recovery.
Pictured is Kim O’Brien, one of Homelands Trust administration staff, with Shona and all of the food donations we had. These came from Sainsbury’s in Leven, Blacketyside Farm in Leven and the photograph of Kim with a table of food was a small amount of the donation from the local community. We have been overwhelmed with the donations and generosity of everyone. We are taking a drive through to Shona’s home with a car full of non-perishable groceries so she can take full advantage of all the donations. Shona and her daughter also enjoyed complimentary massages during their stay.
Shona wrote this comment in our guest book: “We would all like to say how grateful and so overwhelmed we all are for all you have done for us and the community and local shops. It has been truly amazing, I can’t say thank you enough, it has been the break we all needed. Shona and Family”.
