You’ll find a range of accessible events throughout the Barbican’s music, theatre and dance, film and art gallery programme.

The Barbican presents performances that are captioned, British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted and led, audio described and relaxed – across theatre, cinema, visual arts. dance and classical music – and with a spirit of inclusivity.

Recently, for instance, Teatro La Plaza’s bold take on Shakespeare’s Hamlet weaved together the original text with personal reflections from the cast and dynamic choreography, exploring what it’s like to ‘be’ in a world that often excludes you.

Inspired by ‘To Be or Not To Be’ and performed by an extraordinary cast of actors with Down’s syndrome, this version was a fearless challenge to exclusion and prejudice, celebrating community and resilience.
