Cheese Room Cottage is a purpose-built accessible holiday cottage in the beautiful north Shropshire countryside which provides a real home-from-home.

The cottage is situated on a private lane in the hamlet of Marchamley, 14 miles north of the county town of Shrewsbury and just 10 miles from the Welsh border.

The original brick-built cheese store on the dairy farm was converted in 2016 specifically for disabled people with accompanying family or carer. This self-catering cottage is all on one level with extra wide doors throughout and sleeps a maximum of three. There is a large living room with dining area plus a low-height kitchen worktop with access below the sink and hob. Underfloor heating warms the ground floor.

A two-seater sofa and a dual-motor rise and recliner chair provide comfortable seating, while the wetroom has a comfort-height toilet with support rails, shower chair and low-height washbasin.

The main bedroom has two single electric profiling beds which can be clipped together to make a superking and there is room under the bed(s) for a hoist which can be hired from a local company if required. A single bedroom upstairs accommodates a carer or extra family member.

The cottage has its own paved yard surrounded by a wooden fence, with parking by the front door or adjacent to the cottage. Well-behaved dogs are most welcome and the patio area is secure.

North Shropshire has much to offer with the World Heritage site at Ironbridge, a scattering of National Trust properties in easy travelling distance, the beautiful Meres north of Whitchurch and many small market towns with individual shops and cafés to explore. The foodie town of Ludlow and the beautiful south Shropshire hills are about an hour’s drive.
