South Africa won gold in para open triples B6/B7/B8, defeating New Zealand 13-11 in the gold medal match at Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre.

New Zealand claimed silver while England won bronze after defeating Scotland 16-12 in the bronze medal match after an extra end.

On winning the gold medal:

On his crucial last bowl in the final end to win the match:
“Those sort of shots are there for those that put the practice in.”

“My thoughts at the start of the end were to put my bowls at the head and take our chances as it happens.”

“We knew if we had just half a chance we would snatch it and take it, and we took that chance.”

“The team had set the bowls up so all I had to do was knock the white (jack).”

On how it felt to stand on the podium and receive his gold medal:
“It was a very proud moment for me to be a South African. You just can’t describe how your heart feels, how your body shakes and the goose flesh. Unbelievable.”
