Able Magazine is at Festival in the Park this July!

Following last year’s huge success, Redbridge is hosting its second international disability awareness day festival in London on Wednesday 17 July at Christchurch Green, Woodbine Place, London, E11 2RH.

Visitors to the festival can expect to find a range of exhibitors, plus a sports zone, art and craft markets, music and family entertainment. The festival opens at 12.00pm and finishes at 9.00pm, and entry is FREE.

The festival has three main aims:

• To highlight what statutory, private or voluntary services are available to enable disabled people to stay independent.
• To promote equipment and aids that could maintain or improve independence, not just what is offered by statutory service providers, we want everyone to see the best and/or latest designs
• To provide an opportunity to showcase what people with a disability can do, in the field of sport, arts and entertainment

The festival provides people with a disability and mental ill-health the opportunity to be involved in an activity that most people take for granted, as well as the chance to enjoy a feel-good community event which can help improve their sense of wellbeing.

Exhibitors and food

Exhibitors including local organisations from the voluntary, statutory and business sectors will be promoting their services.

If you find yourself hungry, then refreshments are available from the many food outlets selling a variety of cuisines or visitors can bring their own food and drink.

Sports, games and activities zone

Here you can check out the fun activities we have for you to try including drama and music drop-in sessions, tai chi, football, cricket, a games bus, tennis, boccia, petting zoo and much more.

Art and craft markets

There will be a range of crafts, candles, soap, jewellery, clothes, perfumes and much more on offer.

The main stage

There will be live music from local community groups playing throughout the day. Come along and support our local talent.

Join us in the big sing at this year’s disability awareness day festival in the park!

For the first time ever, we want to get as many people as possible involved in our very own “big sing”.

We are inviting people to learn our chosen song and to be ready to sing it live at the festival as part of the largest flash mob ever seen in Redbridge!

We are also filming the making of the big sing to showcase the amazing talents of people with disabilities.
