Corinne and Bob Shuter are looking forward to a long-awaited holiday.  While they still have to wait until lockdown restrictions change in their hometown of Nottingham, it’s not stopped them planning!  It’s all thanks to their new accessible car from Allied Mobility.  The spacious Ford Connect Grand Freedom™ ticks all the boxes and gives them the flexibility to get up and go, something they’ve not had the luxury of doing for years.

“It was literally amazing how much choice there was.”

WAV’s the Way Forward
When the couple began the search for a new mobility car, they weren’t sure where to start but they did know they needed something flexible.  They wanted a vehicle that could comfortably transport Corinne’s mobility scooter, with space to spare for any extra luggage.  They also needed plenty of room for their son and granddaughter, not to mention the family’s in-laws, who frequently joined them on holiday.  Finding a car that offered all this seemed an impossible task until Corinne and Bob learned about wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs).

Corinne explains: “Neither of us knew there was a range of vehicles specifically for scooters and wheelchairs.  It was literally amazing how much choice there was.”

Getting Mobile with Allied Mobility
After realising how much of a difference a wheelchair accessible vehicle would make to their lives, Corinne and Bob set about narrowing down the choices on offer.  They decided that the Grand Freedom™ suited their needs best but wanted expert advice as they were still new to the process.  Luckily, after some internet research, Corinne got in touch with Allied Mobility.  Des, their local mobility consultant was on hand to answer any questions, big or small.

A Grand Choice for Freedom
After a thorough home demonstration, the Grand Freedom™ was the perfect fit for the couple.  Thanks to its unique EasyGlide™ flat-fold ramp and built-in electric winch, Bob didn’t have to struggle dismantling Corinne’s scooter each time the couple made a journey.  What’s more, the spacious interior allowed plenty of room for shopping or luggage as well as seating for extra passengers and even ISOfix fittings for their all-important granddaughter’s car seat.  The Grand Freedom’s™ high spec interior and modern features made each outing in it a pleasure.

Corinne enthuses: “We love the car features: smooth and responsive auto engine, great sound system, panoramic sunroof, very comfortable and adjustable driver’s seat, blind spot mirror, rear parking camera…I could go on!”

Accessible Car Adventures
Since taking delivery of their brand-new Grand Freedom™ Corinne and Bob have been getting familiar with all the features of their new accessible car by taking small trips around town.  Once the pandemic restrictions allow, Corinne and Bob are looking forward to getting started on their new holiday plans for the whole family.  Thanks to their new mobility vehicle offering them space, convenience and comfort, the couple’s holiday plans look better than ever!

Corinne says: “Instead of staying in, I now have my freedom and independence back.”
