The fantastic events of the Superhero Series are back for a seventh summer – bigger and better than ever!
Superhero Tri, powered by Marvel, is part of the Superhero Series, the UK’s only mass-participation sports series dedicated to the ‘Everyday Superhero’ – the UK’s 14.1 million disabled people.
There are two ways to be a Superhero this summer with the Superhero Series events:
- Superhero Tri, powered by Marvel – a unique solo or team mission set across one of three distances which include a swim, bike, run/push with the most popular being the Sprint Superhero Tri comprising a 150m swim, 3km cycle and 1km push/run.
- At Home Superheroes, powered by Marvel – a super-flexible, month-long summer mission that runs from June 15 to July 14 to ensure no Superheroes are left without a mission.
What is a Superhero?
A Superhero is anyone who considers themselves to have a disability of any kind, whether it be physical, intellectual, sensory or invisible. No classifications are needed! People can ‘fly solo’ and tackle all three events or unite with ‘Sidekick’ family and friends. Whatever it takes to complete the mission and have maximum fun!
Tapping into Paralympics power
This year’s events chime perfectly with the 2024 Paralympic Games as founder of the Superhero Series, Paralympian Sophia Warner, explains. “The Paralympics see the world’s best athletes with disabilities showcase what is possible which is hugely inspirational for the 14.1 million people in the UK living with disabilities,” says Sophia. “The real impact of the Games, however, is to bring sport for fun, wellbeing and confidence within reach for everyday superheroes.
Not everyone can be a Paralympian but everyone living with a disability who wants to be active, fit and enjoy sport for fun should have the opportunity to experience all the positive things that sport can bring. And that’s what the Superhero Series is all about.”
