Research shows that for the majority of cyclists with mobility issues, riding a bicycle is easier than walking. What’s more, cycling can help to improve your independence with many people using cycles and trikes as mobility aids.
However, specialist cycles can be expensive so it’s worth considering getting a cycle or trike through the Green Commute Initiative (GCI).
GCI is an inclusive cycle to work scheme which aims to help all employees, no matter their mobility status, to choose active travel for their daily commute. The GCI scheme has no spend limit which means employees have access to specialist and adapted cycles. The minimum saving is 32% (and as much as 47%), but when combined with VAT relief on assisted equipment, your potential savings are huge!
