Burning Nights CRPS Support is a UK charity working to improve the life of all those affected by complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

CRPS is seen as one of the most painful chronic conditions currently known. It affects just under 300 people every week, but is seen as a rare condition.

What is complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)?
Complex regional pain syndrome is a poorly understood condition that affects many people in the UK and across the globe. It is considered a multi-systemic syndrome categorised by extreme and intense chronic pain that is out of proportion to the original injury or illness. CRPS can begin in or affect, any part of the body and spread further from the original site. It also affects more women than men and affects both adults and children.

Aside from the persistent, severe and debilitating pain, other symptoms can and do occur. The condition may develop after an injury, surgery, stroke or heart attack, but the pain is out of proportion with the severity of the initial injury or trauma. The cause of CRPS isn’t clearly understood and awareness in the UK is low. However, the earlier the diagnosis is made and correct treatment is started, the better the prognosis is for a patient.

What support is there for people affected by complex regional pain syndrome?
As a charity, we raise awareness about CRPS among the public, healthcare and legal professionals by providing awareness sessions, so diagnoses can be made quicker and treatment started more rapidly.

We also offer support and information by way of an evidence-based website, support helpline, awareness and information booklets, community forum, email and social media support, annual national conference, regional support groups and access to legal support.

How can you help?
The charity is self-funding and relies entirely on fundraising, donations and contributions.

We are represented at various events across the UK. However, you can also do your own fundraisers including coffee mornings, bake sales or movie nights….

We have a number of volunteers from all around the UK and a volunteer from the USA. We are continually growing as a charity and we rely on volunteers giving up their free time and skills and have a number of volunteering opportunities currently available. Everyone is part of the team and we all learn from each other.

If you’re interested in helping us provide hope and support to anyone affected by CRPS by fundraising, donating or volunteering, please contact us.
