Paralympic Champion Jonnie Peacock is the latest star name to call on the British public to show their support for the Paralympics by joining celebrations for National Paralympic Day at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London on Sunday July 26.

Peacock is set to light up the former Olympic Stadium when he competes against his international rivals in the T44 100m on the closing day of the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games, which features as part of an exciting day of activity on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to celebrate National Paralympic Day.Tickets are now on sale to watch Peacock race in the very same venue where he enraptured the crowd at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, as the sprinter gets set to compete alongside fellow Paralympic heroes David Weir, Hannah Cockroft and Richard Whitehead, who have already announced that they will be back racing on the same track where they made history at their home Games.

Peacock said: “I can’t wait to be back at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to celebrate National Paralympic Day 2015. It’s a great family day out, and I’m thrilled that Athletics is joining Swimming on the competition programme this year. People should definitely get their tickets to ensure the home crowd make plenty of noise and give their athletes the home advantage.

“I’ve been a keen supporter of National Paralympic Day in previous years and there’s so much on offer for fans to enjoy. I’d encourage people to come along to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to join us in celebrating the Paralympics, whether that be through watching the sport, meeting some of their favourite athletes or just having a go at some of the sports on offer.

“This is our day to celebrate the Paralympics, and it’s going to be an unmissable event.”

Elsewhere on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, fans can also secure their seats to cheer on some of GB’s brightest talent in Para-Swimming, as athletes including Paralympic Champions Ellie Simmonds, Ollie Hynd and Jessica-Jane Applegate take on the rest of the World in a thrilling competition at the London Aquatics Centre.

Free activities are also open for all to enjoy, including the chance to meet Paralympic medallists Sophie Christiansen, Natasha Baker and Will Bayley amongst others, plus the chance to try out a whole range of Paralympic sports.

There will also be the spectacular performances from the Mayor of London’s Liberty Festival, which will showcase the best of British talent as it presents another exciting line-up of Deaf and disabled artists, musicians and performers.

It’s also been confirmed that Channel 4 will be broadcasting highlights from National Paralympic Day onSunday August 2, while a live broadcast on July 26 will capture all of the sporting action from the IPC Athletics Grand Prix Final.

National Paralympic Day is generously supported by Spirit of 2012, a trust established by the Big Lottery Fund to recreate the spirit that radiated from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics. Spirit is committed to funding partners who help challenge perceptions of disability.

In addition to the event on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, there will be three regional events taking place on Saturday July 25 in cities across the country, while local sports clubs around the UK can also get involved in celebrations by hosting their own event, whether that be a come and try session, a cake sale, or a Paralympic quiz.
