LASA_Able_ 500pxThe Stroke Association and Able Magazine are delighted to announce a partnership that will see the UK’s favourite disability lifestyle title sponsor the Carer’s Award at the charity’s Life After Stroke Awards 2014.

The Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of stroke survivors, their families and carers. They also recognise the compassion and unfailing commitment of people and organisations to help rebuild the lives of those who have been affected by strokes.

Able Magazine is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and partnering with the Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke Awards to sponsor the Carer’s Award reinforces their commitment to providing insight and inspiration to disabled people and their carers.

All over the UK, there are people who show amazing courage, determination and compassion on a daily basis in an effort to overcome the debilitating effects of stroke.

The role of a carer in supporting a stroke survivor can be a vital part of their recovery. The Carer’s Award is for a person who continues to demonstrate their commitment to caring by providing personal, practical and emotional support for a stroke survivor.

Editor of Able Magazine, Tom Jamison said: “The Life After Stroke Awards mirror our own commitment to celebrating what disabled people can do, not what they can’t. The awards showcase the best of what can be achieved with the right support and attitude.”

Stroke Association Chief Executive, Jon Barrick commented: “A stroke happens in an instant and often changes lives forever. The Life After Stroke Awards highlight the tremendous courage people have shown in rebuilding their lives after a stroke or helping others to do the same.

We believe in life after stroke and are leading a community to change the world for people affected by this devastating condition.”

The Life After Stroke Awards will be held at London’s Dorchester Hotel on 12th June 2014. Other award categories include Stroke Group Award, Professional Excellence Award, a three-tiered Courage Award and the prestigious Fundraiser of the Year Award.
