Three versions of the Mazda2 Hybrid appear on Motability: Centre-Line, Exclusive-Line and Homura. Each is refined yet practical, with the underlying theme being that the Mazda2 Hybrid is a city car of distinction, irrespective of its ‘supermini’ stature.
Drivers select their favoured driving mode choosing from normal, power and ECO modes, or EV drive mode. Accelerating from 0-62mph takes just 9.7 seconds.
Disability-friendly
Coming home lights are standard, as are grab handles – useful additions for drivers or passengers that transfer in and out of the vehicle from a wheelchair (smoother still, with smart keyless entry). The reversing camera will doubtless help drivers with impaired mobility and a blind spot monitor with parking support brake function (rear-crossing) on the Exclusive-Line will also be welcomed by disabled drivers. Privacy glass, as per the Homura trim, may be appreciated by people who feel vulnerable, perhaps when driving on their own.
A spacious, stylish and airy interior really works for both driver and passengers with carefully positioned controls, including tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel and adjustable and manual slide, recline and height adjustable seats.
Infotainment flows through a 9-inch touchscreen. Synchronising your phone (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) enables features such as hands-free communication and accessing apps. DAB radio and Bluetooth controls are steering wheel-mounted and there’s also a USB-C input point. The Homura trim features an additional 7-inch digital customisable speedometer and hybrid system indicator and QI wireless charging capability.
Convenience
Further comfort and convenience features include 60:40 split fold down rear seats and climate-control. The Exclusive-Line adds in front and rear parking sensors and the Homura offers rear parking support brake function (static objects).
A comprehensive safety package includes ABS, dynamic stability control, driver attention alert, e-call with GPS, lane tracing assist, pre-collision system (front enhanced with emergency steering assist) and road sign assist. The Homura also features rear cross traffic alert with auto braking and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The Mazda2 Hybrid will accommodate cargo storage up to 286 litres in five-seat mode, including underfloor storage, or 935 litres in two-seat mode.
