It takes guts to run a colossal event like Naidex. Just ask Event Director, Rosie Pettifer. Organising the biggest event in Europe for disability and independent living is no easy task. On 26th & 27th March 2019, the show will once again take place at Birmingham’s NEC and will celebrate its 45th anniversary.

Ahead of the show, Rosie shares what Naidex means to her and the industry, as well as a sneak peak of what to expect in March.

“In order to properly describe Naidex and give it the justice its 45 years of success deserves, I’d have to start with its purpose. For almost half a century, the show has brought together the disabled community and offered the opportunity to witness the future of independent living. Every year Naidex aims to find the most groundbreaking products and services that enable disabled people to be more independent.

Over the years, Naidex has become a forum that brings together the world of disability. On show days you can meet anyone from a carer, to an OT; you’ll also find Paralympians, founders of charities, owners of businesses that assist disabled people, and many others. This incredible mix creates a formidable community, full of solidarity and rich in networking opportunities.”

When asked about what the show means to the world of disability and independent living, Rosie explains with passion: “Organising an event like Naidex is thrilling, especially after last year’s success. It allows us to grow the show in ways we didn’t think were possible a couple of years ago. The rise of new technologies dedicated to helping disabled people is mind-blowing, every day we find organisations that provide new ways to change lives. And so, we get them on board to provide our visitors with the products or services they need to be independent. It is amazing how profound an impact this event has. We want to increase inclusion and accessibility in every aspect of Society.”

Changes

When asked if she thought Naidex was on the right track to achieve the changes they were looking to make, Rosie answers with a twinkle in her eye: “I guess you’ll have to come see for yourself…”

Able Magazine will also be there to see what the show has in store for 2019! We have partnered with Naidex for another year and we are excited to announce that we will once again be hosting our famous, Able Magazine Best in Show Award. Using our famed star ratings we will be rewarding the companies providing products and services that are championing independence.

So make your way to Birmingham, 26 – 27 March 2019, as Rosie, Able Magazine and over 15,000 visitors flood the halls of the NEC. All celebrating innovation. All looking to find exactly what Naidex has to offer: the future of independent living.
