A team of disabled celebrities, influencers and disability activists will decide the shortlist and winners. Judges include chef and TV presenter Briony May Williams, Paralympian Siobhan Fitzpatrick and singer Alice Ella. A very special guest presenter will be announced in due course.
1 August 2023 – The national disability charity Sense is inviting the public to submit nominations for its Sense Awards, which recognises the incredible achievements of people with complex disabilities and the people that support them. The public can submit nominations for people with complex disabilities and those who support them on the Sense website.
There are thirteen categories, including ‘Person of the Year’, ‘Campaigner of the Year’, ‘Young Sibling of the Year’ and ‘Celebrity of the Year’. Previous winners include comedian Rosie Jones, BBC News correspondent Nikki Fox and influencer Shelby Lynch.
Lauren Gilbert was awarded ‘Influencer of the Year’ at the 2022 Sense Awards for her activism around neurodiversity on social media and will be one of the judges at this year’s awards.
Lauren Gilbert said: “I couldn’t believe it when I was told I’d won a Sense Award last year. This year, I feel so grateful to have been asked to be part of the judging panel, and I can’t wait to celebrate the disabled community and all of our achievements.”
