Serious Injury Solicitors, Potter Rees Dolan, are thrilled to announce the promotion of five of their senior solicitors to Partner.

Both classed as leaders in their field, Lesley Herbertson and Gill Edwards are highly experienced in clinical negligence matters having obtained landmark decisions in a number of cases and both are individually ranked in the independent legal guide Chambers UK and Legal 500 2018 with Gill being described as an “exceptionally good solicitor…accustomed to dealing with complex matters” and Lesley as a “first-class solicitor…completely efficient and totally intelligent with excellent communication skills.”

Lesley Herbertson who was a partner at Alexander Harris before joining Irwin Mitchell, has been with the firm since 2010.  Gill Edwards, a former Partner at Pannone, joined Potter Rees Dolan 18 months ago from Slater and Gordon. Lesley and Gill handle high-value claims resulting from a wide range of injuries caused as a result of medical error including brain and spinal injury, chronic pain, and amputation. They are integral to the formidable reputation of the department with its rigorous approach to litigation and forensic attention to detail.

As well as securing many multi-million pound awards for severely injured adults, both Gill and Lesley have eminent reputations acting on behalf of babies and children who have suffered brain injury at birth.

Fellow new partners Helen Shaw, Jeanne Evans and Gary Herbert, are central to the esteemed and approachable personal injury team, which has first-rate knowledge of all aspects of personal injury claims, all of whom specialise in the most serious of these. The team is renowned nationally for its expertise in complex brain and spinal injury and serious orthopaedic injuries including amputations, and criminal injuries. The department is ranked in the Legal 500 and described as “absolutely fantastic.”

Helen Shaw is a tenacious personal injury specialist who works tirelessly for claimants who appreciate her “brilliant and helpful personal service” and “calm voice at the end of the phone.” She has particular expertise in dealing with work-related and motorcycle accidents. As a motorcyclist herself she has an intrinsic knowledge of the discrete complex issues which can make all the difference in winning claims for injured parties.

Jeanne Evans is a dedicated lawyer who relentlessly promotes the interests of her clients. She is a keen supporter of multi-disciplinary rehabilitation; from her many years working to ensure this is provided for her clients she is acutely aware of the enormous difference this makes to individuals who’ve suffered life-changing injuries and their families. Her clients describe her help and support as “incredible” and “the highest quality of service.”

With superlative skill in acting for children and young adults who have sustained brain injuries, Gary Herbert’s own personal intervention has in several cases ensured that therapy and substantial compensation for these has not been missed even when earlier medical investigations were inconclusive. Gary has a vast amount of experience in cases of the utmost severity and is individually recommended in the Legal 500 as “excellent.”

Helen Dolan, Partner and Head of the clinical negligence department, said: “We are delighted to reward the commitment and excellence of our talented team; Potter Rees Dolan goes from strength to strength, with its client-focused approach at the heart of all it does.”
