Team BSMHFT is committed to a supportive, inclusive and accessible culture for all staff, including people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. Data shows at least one in 10 of our staff are disabled or living with a long-term health condition, though we recognise the figure is probably higher.
We strive to remove obstacles and provide appropriate, tailored support so
all staff can flourish and be the best version of themselves at work.
Disability and Wellbeing Network (DAWN)
Our staff network meets monthly, ensuring we have a safe space for members to talk freely about their experiences, offer peer support, share best practice and connect.
Our Disability and Wellbeing Campaign 2024
For Disability Pride Month (July) we launched our campaign, taking a positive, empowering perspective on disability and encouraging a focus on people’s ability, not just their disability; highlighting that disabled people have many strengths and abilities, and we welcome and champion this, including in our recruitment processes.
All staff are encouraged to sign a pledge challenging discriminatory behaviour, be an active bystander and undertake co-designed training around disability awareness.
During Disability Pride Month, we asked Team BSMHFT colleagues to share their stories.
