National digital inclusion charity AbilityNet is running a series of technology Practitioner Days in centres around the UK.

These free events provide disability advisers in Higher Education (HE) and Further Education (FE) an opportunity to experience first hand some of the technology that AbilityNet recommends to the students it assesses.

During the events there will also be time to discuss the latest changes to Disabled Students’ Allowances as well as the opportunity to meet other disability advisers from the education sector.

Mark Walker Head of Marketing & Communications at AbilityNet said: “Given all the changes and uncertainties around DSA, we wanted to showcase what technology disabled students are using to support them with their studies.

“Running seven DSA assessment centres across the UK, our assessors have detailed insight into what is being funded and where there are regional differences.

“For disability advisers, our Practitioner Days are also a great chance to get up to speed with the latest assistive technology devices and software.

The next Practitioner Day events are:

  • London, 1pm, 21 June
  • Birmingham, 1pm, 5 July
  • Brighton, 1pm, 19 July

AbilityNet will also be holding an event in Bristol later in the year.
