Disabled motorists and their families keen to find out more about the Motability Scheme can do so from the comfort of their own homes this summer, as The Big Event moves online. With Covid-19 restrictions affecting arrangements for large exhibitions this year, the Motability Scheme will be bringing all the information, as well as the fun, of the real-life event to visitors – without the need to travel.

Covid-19 Government guidance, and the uncertainty regarding future restrictions, means that Motability Operations have sadly made the decision to cancel all physical events for this year, this includes The Big Event and all regional One Big Days. The safety and wellbeing of the Scheme’s customers, employees and partners are the key priorities, and in the current environment, with social distancing expected to be a fact of life possibly through to the autumn, these busy events can’t take place in the same way.

However, for those keen to find out more about what the Scheme has to offer, including new car makes and models, advice on adaptations, and powered wheelchairs and scooters, the good news is that on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 August 2021, the Scheme will host a virtual version of The Big Event.

Louise Vranic, The Big Event event organiser at Motability Operations, said:

“In this ‘new normal’ world, we still want to try and give customers and their families a fun and information-packed way to learn more about the Scheme’s worry-free motoring package.  The Big Event will give disabled motorists the opportunity to find out all they need to know about the Scheme with information about how to join, displays of the wide range of the cars, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles, scooters and wheelchairs available to lease, and information on adaptations too. Scheme experts will also share information and answer questions.

“We were incredibly disappointed to have to cancel the physical event programme for 2021 but we’re excited to be bringing a virtual version of The Big Event to our customers online. We really hope  to back in 2022 with the One Big Day events we all know and love.”

An interactive, virtual event, registered visitors of The Big Event can look forward to online displays of the vehicles available on the Scheme, and expert Speaker Sessions will provide helpful information to online audiences. Visitors will also be able to speak to all exhibitors through ‘live chat’ on the day, as well as Motability Scheme advisors and partners.
