Following the success of The William Merritt Centre’s AccessAbility Exhibition in 2017, it is excited to announce its plans to make 2018 bigger and better by the addition of Get Going Live covering all your vehicle mobility needs.

It will take place on 18th October 2018 at the Centenary Pavilion, Leeds United Football Club between 10.00am and 3.00pm, showcasing new and innovative assistive technology and equipment, providing information and advice to enable greater independence for disabled children and adults or those with additional needs.

Senior Occupational Therapist Annette Abbott explained, “Both professionals, end users and their families and carers are invited to attend the free event. As well as companies demonstrating a range of assistive technology and equipment including beds, seating, walking aids, bathing aids, tricycles, scooters, wheelchairs, and car adaptations, a number of charities will be attending to offer support and information.

This is a great opportunity for you to meet companies and try products which can enhance your everyday life and enable greater independence. It is also a great opportunity for professionals to attend with clients to assess which equipment may best meet their needs.

The additional benefit this year is that the Exhibition also includes Get Going Live covering all aspects of driving including vehicle adaptations, accessible vehicles and a test drive circuit with new and existing drivers in mind, on a track accompanied by specialist driving instructors and occupational therapists in a safe environment: all vehicles have dual control.

The exhibition also offers a special gaming area showcasing the options available for adaptations to enable everyone to access computers, mobile phones, tablets, toys and computer games whilst providing an area to chill out and have fun.

David Blythe, General Manager of The William Merritt Centre commented “Over 500 people came to the Exhibition last year and we have even more stands booked this year. We are excited to be able to host the exhibition which offers a range of equipment and mobility to all ages in Yorkshire. This free event is a convenient way to come and try out new products and see innovations to help you keep up to date.”
