Trekinetic believe that everyone should have the freedom to go where they want without their wheelchair holding them back.

The world is not flat, and certainly not for wheelchair users! Cobbled streets, cracked paving slabs and potholes are common on UK streets, while outside of the cities, gravel paths, trails, grass and mud make it incredibly difficult for wheelchair users to get around, leaving them watching from the sidelines. Trekinetic believes that in 2025, your wheelchair should be able to handle any surface that can be easily walked over.

Trekinetic wheelchairs are designed to cope with a wide variety of surfaces and can be used in both urban and rural environments. Who doesn’t want a wheelchair that can go anywhere?!

Trekinetic GTE Mk3 Review

Let’s start in the cafe. The table your cappuccino is sloshing around on has four legs, one of which isn’t quite touching the fl oor. It’s annoying. If only, like the GTE Mk3, it had just three points of contact with the ground, it’d clearly be much more stable. In the case of the Mk3, bodyweight is evenly distributed to improve traction, particularly on uneven surfaces.

The solid design of the Mk3 is defined by the wider wheelbase and large wheels positioned at the front, ready to take on obstacles with ease, (rather than requiring any need to lift superfluous front castors). Even so, worth remembering is that all-terrain should also include gentle surfaces or indoor environments. Happily, a patented Varicam system allows you to change the angle of the wheels and lock them in place by simply turning a bar under the seat, without tools – while further versatility is provided by its hybrid design, whereby a simple lever allows you to switch between power input and manual.

A rear shock absorber ensures a smooth ride while also acting as a tilt in space mechanism to alter the angle of the seat and subsequent weight distribution. Meanwhile, the lightweight carbon fibre monocoque chassis reduces weight without compromising strength (or comfort).

The GTE has a 5-speed joystick, provides a range of up to 30km and weighs just 34kg including (removable) battery. It’s also fully crash tested and safe for air travel.
