Carbon Black System, the company that created the innovative and futuristic wheelchair used by 2016 Paralympic Gold and Bronze Medalist Kadeena Cox, has signed an exclusive UK and Ireland distribution deal with GennyMobility UK, who sell the world’s only active powered wheelchair.

The deal means that both companies have the freedom to sell each other’s unique products and Carbon Black now has a new sales channel and the ability to offer finance to spread the cost of the chair up to 60 months.

Three times the strength of steel, the super-lightweight carbon fibre chair is made almost exclusively from the material that F1 car bodies are made from.

Carbon Black’s innovative carbon fibre is moulded into an ergonomically designed form that is stylish, lightweight and futuristically minimalist in appearance.

Genny is a movement controlled wheelchair that responds to the user tilting their body in the required direction and offers freedom to travel across even rough terrain, including soft sand and deep mud, without the need for hand momentum.

Andy Larkam, sales and marketing director for GennyMobility UK based in Dartford, Kent, said: “This is an exciting time for both businesses. We have already sold two Carbon Black chairs because of its unique profile, which acts as a perfect complement to the Genny.

“Now with the Paralympic success of Kadeena Cox, an ambassador for Carbon Black, and the fact that we can offer finance packages for customers to spread the cost, we will be able to open up new sales across the UK and Ireland.”

VP for Sales and Marketing for Carbon Black, Paul Komuro, said: “We are very excited about this deal because GennyMobility UK has a fantastic sales reputation and product which is a perfect fit for Carbon Black as the profile of our customers are the same – wheelchair users who are independent and want to remain so.”

“Together, we have set ambitious targets for growth and I am confident that we will meet the demand for the two most stylish wheelchairs on the market.”

The new deal means that the Scottish and Oxford-based Carbon Black is driving forward its domestic sales plans at the same time as expanding its horizons into wider international markets including Brazil where Carbon Black was invited to ‘Pitch at the Paras’ as guests of the British Ambassador.

Arguably the most compact rigid frame lightweight wheelchair on the market, Carbon Black chairs dismantle in seconds into easy to transport parts, none heavier than 3.5kg.

Carbon Black chairs are bespoke for the customer with 32,000 different part variations and can even include LED lighting so that hidden kerbs and other obstacles are visible to users at night.

Carbon Black is specifically aimed at active independent users and with starting prices of £7,500 – although finance packages are now available to help spread the cost – each chair can be custom-built to the users requirements, style, colour, as well as a range of experience enhancing extras.

Carbon Black System has a showroom in Bicester, Oxfordshire and test driving a GennyMobility UK can be arranged through its showroom in Dartford, Kent.
