Able Magazine has been a media partner with Naidex for years – and will be again in 2020.

It’s a must visit!
Naidex is Europe’s most established event dedicated to independent living and healthcare as it relates to disabled people and their carers. Attracting over 18,000 visitors from across the globe, the show brings together trade professionals, healthcare professionals and members of the public at Birmingham’s NEC for two days of innovation, information and discovery.

The buzz is always impressive and it’s a rare opportunity to see so many companies and organisations devoted to disability, under one roof. If you’re looking for a particular adaptation or solution, chances are you’ll find it here.

Accessible
The NEC is a fantastic venue and de facto home to Naidex; not least because it’s a whopping undertaking, unlikely to fit into any other exhibition space. Naturally, extra consideration is given to the halls hosting Naidex, with wide aisles and total step free access throughout. Individual exhibitors also pride themselves on properly servicing the requirements of the gathered disability community.

You’ll also find a range of accessible facilities across the NEC, as well as additional accessible toilets within Naidex. There are also Changing Places toilets available both inside the event and within the NEC providing space for up to two carers and extra features to meet additional needs, including height adjustable adult-sized changing benches and a hoist system.

Wheelchairs are available free of charge for blue badge holders and £5 for all other visitors (but numbers are limited) Scooters can be hired for £15 per day. (It’s advisable to pre-book equipment on: 0121 780 4141 (option 2 and then option 7), or email: InfoEmailAccount@necgroup.co.uk)

Central location
The NEC is pretty much in the centre of the UK – and is the centre of the disability world for those two days in March. You’ll find it clearly signposted from all motorways and major routes including the M42, M40 and M6 – or input B40 1NT into your satnav. You can also arrive via Birmingham International railway station or Birmingham airport

If you travel by car, taxi or private coach bringing your Blue Badge with you will enable you to be dropped off at the main entrances, instead of having to make your way from the carparks.

Discussion
Naidex pulls together loads of new ideas, not least as a result of its diverse range of panels, seminars and speakers. Subject matter ranges from health and accessibility, to sports and fitness, through to education and employment.

(In 2020 Able Magazine editor, Tom Jamison, will moderate an employability panel.)

Fun
There’s always plenty to do at Naidex. Why not take a look at what’s going on at the Live Sports Arena for ideas about how to enjoy an active lifestyle? If that’s not for you, maybe you’ll take to the Mobility Test Track to try out a new way of getting around – or maybe you’ll bump into one of the celebrity guests!

Able Magazine Best In Show Award
We’d like to think that the Able Magazine Best In Show Award is part of the Naidex furniture. We task ourselves with finding the very best product or service from the hundreds on display over the two days. It’s never easy but it’s a great way of seeing what’s new.

Readers
Events like Naidex give us the opportunity to meet our readers face-to-face. We’ll be exhibiting again in 2020, so feel free to drop by and say hello.
