Time spent outdoors, especially among the trees, has the power to restore calm, boost our mood and help us feel more connected to nature.

At Forestry England, we believe the proven restorative health and wellbeing benefits of being outdoors should be available to everyone. This belief has been the driving force behind a number of key improvements across the nation’s forests in recent years.

Helping disabled people to access our forest sites
Over the past three years alone, we’ve created new accessible walking, wheeling and cycling trails with accompanying accessible seating to provide essential rest stops along the way. For instance, we’ve introduced 14 new all-terrain mobility scooters at another eight forests in addition to those already in use across the country; created 15 more inclusive play areas and installed over 120 accessible benches, perches and picnic tables. Furthermore, we’ve installed seven Changing Places toilet facilities, increasing the total across our forest sites to 14. All of these improvements have been carefully designed to make our sites welcoming spaces where every family belongs.

Whether you’re looking to walk, wheel or cycle, explore inclusive play areas with family or simply enjoy nature from accessible viewing points, the nation’s forests are ready to welcome you. With most people living within an hour’s drive of a Forestry England site, adventure is closer than you think.

Your accessible adventure awaits!
