The British Film Institute’s We Crip Film Festival, formerly known as Busting the Bias, returns with a celebratory weekend of disabled filmmaking.

Experience a curated collection of films, talks and industry workshops that declare the need for authentic representation on both sides of the camera and explore the strength, creativity and ingenuity of disabled people, marking 30 years since the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

Curated by Charlie Little and Tara Brown, with thanks to Oska Bright, the festival is an expression of disabled rage and joy as we reflect on the landscape of access and inclusion within the screen industries in 2025. We Crip Film is the BFI’s intersectional disability advocacy group, who strongly believe in ‘nothing about us without us.’

Highlights
Featuring the UK festival premier of Deaf President Now! a rousing documentary highlighting a tipping point in Deaf representation and civil rights, and It’s Not You, It’s Ableism, a collection of the brightest and best shorts focusing on resistance to ableism, it’s certain to be emotional, provocative and memorable!

All film screenings will be relaxed and access provisions such as descriptive subtitles, audio description, BSL/English interpretation, live captions, wheelchair user spaces and quiet spaces will be provided.
