World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2019

Tickets are now on sale for the World Wheelchair Curling Championships 2019. The championship is being held at Stirling’s PEAK Sport’s Village from the 3rd to 10th of March. This tournament is the first opportunity for the competing nations to gain vital qualification points for the 2022 Paralympic Games in Beijing.

The 12 Nations competing in this year’s tournament are Norway, Russia, Scotland, China, Canada, Korea, United States, Switzerland, Germany, Estonia, Slovakia and Latvia.

Ticket prices are £4 per session for round-robin group matches, £6 for Saturday’s knockout Semi Finals and £10 for Sunday’s Bronze and Gold medal matches.

The PEAK Sport’s Village is located on the outskirts of Central Stirling and is only a 20-minute walk from Stirling Train Station. Buses are also available from Stirling Train Station to the PEAK every 15 minutes with a journey time of just over 10 minutes. All buses have disabled access and kneeling facilities.

The 2019 World Wheelchair Curling Championship showcases the best Wheelchair Curlers from around the globe with 5 out the 12 nations having won at least one gold medal at these championships before. The tournament will also showcase more than 10 nations competing for the first time since 2006.

Paul Bush OBE, VisitScotland’s Director of Events, said: “Following 2016’s European Curling Championships and the World Junior Curling Championships in 2018, we are delighted to welcome the World Wheelchair Curling Championships to Stirling in March as part of a multi-hosting agreement which will conclude with the World Men’s Curling Championships in 2020. Scotland has such a strong history with the sport and, as such, provides the perfect stage for curling events. With tickets on sale Monday 14th January, we hope fans take this opportunity to watch another world-class competition on Scottish ice.”
