We are waiting to find out how benefit cuts may affect us. Members Adrian and Alex, with CEO Catrina, went on the BBC’s morning news. They shared concerns about changes to benefits and to the Motability Scheme. Adrian said: “It is very frightening to think that my benefits could be cut. I want the Chancellor to hear me. I want to make a difference. I want equality and the budget in ‘easy read’ please.”
Mencap research shows that 86% of people with a learning disability want a job but many don’t have the support to be able to get one. We think our Self Advocacy Framework could help.
