Jeremy Clarkson is hosting another exciting series of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and television production company, Stellify, are determined to make the show inclusive and are looking for disabled contestants to attempt to make it all the way to £1million!

Surely everyone has dreamt of becoming a millionaire at some point, so it seems only right that everyone, including disabled people, has the chance to appear on the television show that can make that dream a reality.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (WWTBAM) is back and its makers, Stellify are making every effort for it to be as inclusive and accessible as possible.

WWTBAM is one of the biggest quiz shows on British television, so it makes sense that audiences at home should be able to relate to the contestants. This of course, requires the production company to select from the widest possible diversity of applicants to fully represent the watching British public.

The show is recorded at the accessible Dock 10 studios in Salford, and worth noting is that, from the selection process and throughout filming, the production team at WWTBAM has a track record of successfully making reasonable adjustments to accommodate disabled contestants, not just to ensure that they’re comfortable, but also to make sure that the gameshow itself is fair, and that the potential to win a million quid is open to everyone who participates!

Previous reasonable adjustments have included changing the Fastest Finger First round to be inclusive of a blind contestant that had been selected for the programme. Instead of displaying the Fastest Finger First question on a screen that would have been an advantage to sighted contestants, the question and four answers was not displayed on a screen at all but repeated multiple times by the host for all contestants. Of course, for the Phone A Friend option, again the host read out the question and four options, instead of the blind contestant.

With a host of reasonable adjustments and a positive attitude to inclusion, the programme makers at WWTBAM make it altogether possible that you could be just 15 questions away from becoming a millionaire!

Wellbeing of participants
The production team on Who Wants To be A Millionaire? recognises its responsibilities towards inclusion as well as towards the general wellbeing of those people who choose to take part, with all contestants invited to an informed consent welfare chat with a senior member of the casting team prior to filming and an appointment with one of the production’s mental health advisors.
