From 2019, Mobility Networks Group will supply Hato Bus Company with lifts for a selection of their buses.

These buses will be used for the inbound tourists to Japan. The lifts will be used for transporting luggage efficiently while adhering to Japanese health and safety requirements; in particular, the protection of drivers’ backs.

This model of lift was a collaboration between the engineers at PLS (Passenger Lift Services, a Mobility Networks company) and their counterparts at Vanhool and Hato Bus; it is ordinarily used by wheelchair passengers. There were many technical obstacles to overcome but by working together on this project, we now have the final product required by Hato Bus for this very important global event.

“We as Mobility Networks are extremely proud to work with such a prestigious client as Hato Bus on this project for the upcoming Rugby World Cup. We have been involved from the outset with the customer and have provided a unique product to satisfy both the customer and requirements of the tournament; demonstrating our flexibility to provide the exact solution and needs of the market.” – Paul Hemingway, Commercial Director – Mobility Networks Group

Hato Bus Company was established in 1948 and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is its major shareholder. “Hato” means “dove” and the dove is featured as the emblem of Hato Bus signifying peace.

The first lift will be installed by Vanhool on their double decker bus in Q2 2019. The bus will then be registered in Japan in Q3 of 2019.
