The Flexx Adapt is the latest addition to Karma Mobility’s positioning wheelchair range, it is a highly adjustable tilt-in-space paediatric wheelchair.
The frame is designed so that it can grow with the user, the seat width adjusts from 255 – 355mm and depth from 230 – 380mm, and the backrest height can be adjusted from 350 – 500mm. The seat to ground height is also adjustable as required. All the adjustments are built into the frame and require only replacement seat and backrest cushions. It is also possible to fit third party seating systems, such as Spex, to the frame if necessary.
For postural support, it has 45° tilt in space and 40° recline with shear reduction, which provide enhanced pressure relief.
The tilt and recline mechanisms benefit from a patented smooth postural change system which allows the chair to be easily and smoothly adjusted.
Numerous options and accessories are available, including a design registered dynamic backrest, adjustable headrest, lateral, and hip supports. The patented dynamic backrest diffuses and absorbs forces caused by uncontrolled movements. It can also be set to static mode at the flick of a switch to provide a rigid backrest as required.
The Flexx Adapt is crash tested, and the backrest folds forward onto the seat for storage and transportation. It is available in apple green, pink, and black.
