Multi-million pound transformative works to improve the theatre’s accessibility and sustainability will be complete in the summer, including the provision of a lift to all floors, increased accessible seating in the auditorium, new accessible toilets and refreshed public spaces. It’s the perfect time to visit and enjoy one of the fabulous productions the venue has to offer.
Audiences can look forward to two upcoming collaborations with Guildford Shakespeare Company (10-26 July), which combine an exciting production of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors with a brand-new comedy play, A Company of Rascals. The shows are performed in tandem with the same cast moving between both, on the main stage as well as in different locations around the theatre.

There’s also plenty of top-quality drama coming up. By Royal Appointment (29 Jul-2 Aug) starring Anne Reid and Caroline Quentin, is a funny, poignant and celebratory new play about the Queen and her Dresser. Brand-new comedy The Last Laugh (5-9 Aug) is a laugh-a-minute play straight from the West End, which reimagines the lives of three of Britain's all-time greatest comedy heroes – Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe and Bob Monkhouse. And the word premiere stage adaptation of P.D James’ best-selling Death Comes to Pemberley (12-16 Aug), starring EastEnders’ James Bye as Mr Darcy, combines Jane Austen’s timeless romance with a gripping murder mystery.

If plays aren’t your thing, there’s plenty more in the jam-packed schedule, including one night comedy, dance, music and more. The Riverbank Kitchen is also open Tuesday to Saturday, so even if you aren’t seeing a show you can enjoy the riverside view with a slice of homemade cake.
