Released in January 2018, OrCam MyEye 2 is a breakthrough artificial vision device designed for people who are blind, visually impaired, or have reading difficulties. The device is wireless, only about the size of a finger, and attaches magnetically to the side of any glasses frame. It has a smart camera at the front which uses cutting-edge AI algorithms to assess visual information and an HD speaker to communicate to users.

OrCam MyEye uses its powerful artificial vision technology to instantly read printed or digital text from any surface, including newspapers, magazines, books, computers, smartphones, and street signs. The device can also recognise faces, products, barcodes, and bank notes in real time. None of the OrCam MyEye 2’s functionality requires an internet connection, and it does not store any data.

OrCam user Souleyman Bah says, “The OrCam MyEye 2 makes it so easy for me to access any written text – all I need to do it point, the device takes a picture, and I have a voice there helping me all the time […] I can go anywhere, and do anything, and feel like I have the confidence and I have the ability to do everything that everyone else can do. The OrCam absolutely gives you that key important word: independence.”
