Ashurst LLP is a leading multinational law firm and a trusted adviser to corporates, financial institutions and governments worldwide. They’re also the newest member of our Be the Difference initiative…
A progressive global law firm
Their vision is to be the most progressive global law firm. For them, “progressive” is a mindset, an approach to how they do things. They instinctively take a fresh perspective on situations, exploring whether there are better ways of delivering practical, commercial solutions to the challenges clients face in today’s rapidly changing business landscape.
A socially responsible firm
They pride themselves on being a responsible business. They are committed to being a sustainable global law firm which delivers positive impacts for employees, clients, profession, environment and the communities in which they are based. They are a people-oriented firm with a strong values led culture. They enjoy working closely in partnership with both their clients and community partners.
Diversity and inclusion, corporate responsibility and pro bono are core components of their culture and are a reflection of their values – they’re passionate about quality, they deliver through collaboration and think differently – in action.
Diversity & Inclusion
They aim to be renowned internally and by their peers for diversity. A commitment to best practice in diversity and inclusion will facilitate the achievement of their long-term business strategy and leverage the people and culture which are their key strengths.
Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Group
The Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Group is chaired by the managing partner and advises the board and executive team on implementation of the firm’s diversity and inclusion strategy. The partner members are drawn from across practice areas and global regions to ensure a representative range of views. They work closely with the diversity team to review action plans, advise on areas of priority and ensure that the board and executive team are fully engaged in the firm’s diversity programme.
Disability & Resilience
Supporting the physical and mental health of their partners and staff is an integral part of their role as a responsible employer. They implement a range of initiatives to help partners and staff maintain good mental health and to support those experiencing mental ill health – as well as maintaining their strong track record in providing the support that employees with existing disabilities require to ensure that they can perform their role as effectively as possible. In the UK, their disABILITY network aims to increase awareness of physical and mental health issues in the Ashurst workplace; reduce the stigma associated with the sharing of any disability (particularly mental health issues); contribute to the sense of community for everyone; and, provide resources for those with disabilities or who are caring for those with disabilities.
As a firm they commit to:
- Provide staff with disabilities with the support necessary to place them on a level playing field.
- Ensure that the challenges faced by those with disabilities are acknowledged.
- Secure a working environment that supports disclosure of disability or resilience issues.
- Support health and wellbeing as an integral part of our approach to business.
They are proud members of the Australian Network for Disability and the Business Disability Forum in the UK. They have trained Wellbeing Officers from across the business in Asia, Australia and the UK to support partners and staff who may be experiencing issues of mental ill health themselves, or who have concerns about colleagues who may be trying to cope in this context.
Two partners with responsibility for disability and resilience sit on their global diversity advisory group.
