The UK’s largest all-inclusive mass participation fun run will take place in Scotland for the first time on 2 September 2018 as Glasgow’s George Square plays host to a mini family festival of active lifestyle activities.

Parallel will welcome thousands of people of all ages and abilities to take part in a series of fun runs from 5km to 100m, including the ever popular Super Sensory 1km course. The award-winning event places disability inclusion at the heart of the experience, operating with the spirit of ‘Start Together, Finish Whenever’. Registration for the first ever Scotland event is open at

The event, now in its third year, underlines Glasgow’s status as a city of sport and inclusion; following on from the legacy of Commonwealth Games 2014 and the forthcoming Glasgow 2018 European Championships.

Founder Andrew Douglass explains:

“I could not be more excited about bringing Parallel to Glasgow, where the event will become a brilliant addition to Scotland’s annual event calendar. Scotland has a dynamic and progressive approach to diversity; particularly disability inclusion and has been an incredible host to some of the world’s best sporting occasions. It’s always been our ambition to create a series of Parallel events and Glasgow is an incredibly welcoming and fitting new home for us.”

A celebration of diversity and inclusion, Parallel Glasgow enables people of all ages and abilities to challenge themselves and get active. The Glasgow city centre course will also play host to additional activities; including sport, games, play and wellbeing.

Councillor David McDonald, deputy leader of Glasgow City Council and chair of Glasgow Life, said:

“We’re really excited to welcome Parallel to Glasgow, and we are especially looking forward to the positive impact that the event will have on our city. Parallel Glasgow perfectly embodies the aim to inspire residents and visitors to live richer and more active lives and we can’t wait to host what will be a fantastic event.”

Founded by Andrew Douglass and supported by live event and experience agency innovision, Parallel’s purpose is to be a positive catalyst in changing the negative image of disability and enabling everybody to fulfil their potential to the best of their abilities. In just two years, Parallel has been a platform for over 100 charities to raise over £1million and enabled thousands of people, families and communities to get active together for the very first time.
