Treworgans Farm Holidays situated on a family run farm in the glorious Cornish countryside, offers truly accessible self-catering holiday accommodation. There is a vast array of mobility equipment available to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible. Many guests quote the fact that they have better facilities whilst on holiday than they do in their own homes.
Converted from what were originally stone farm buildings, the holiday cottages are designed to be wheelchair accessible incorporating level access shower rooms and adapted kitchens.
An extensive range of mobility aids is available for use, free of charge, including electric profiling beds with either pressure or air mattresses, electric hoists, various shower chairs, commodes, patient turners, riser recliner chairs and drop arm chairs. The bedrooms are spacious, offering either a 6ft superking bed or two 3ft single beds. There is a wheel in, level access wet room ensuite to the master bedroom in each property and all other bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms. The wetrooms have non slip flooring and an array of grab rails fitted around the sink, toilet and shower areas.
The cottages benefit from central heating and there is also an additional woodburner in the sitting room of each cottage for a cosy winter fire. Each property maintains its rustic style featuring exposed beams and traditional pine kitchens. Both kitchens have clear underspace to the sinks and adjustable height electric hobs and are fully equipped with washer/dryers, dishwashers and microwaves. In each cottage there is free WiFi, flat screen TVs and DVD players.
To make best use of the views of the surrounding countryside, each property has a large decked area where BBQs and outdoor seating provide the perfect environment for enjoying the rural setting. The properties are detached and offer complete privacy from each other and there is ample parking immediately beside the ramped access to each cottage.
The farm is ideally suited for exploring the whole county of Cornwall with both the North and South coasts being within easy reach. In recent years many tourist destinations have developed specific trails and routes for their less mobile visitors, including The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and many National Trust properties and gardens. For those wishing to visit the beach there are now various beaches offering the hire of sand chairs.
With the recent use of the wonderful Cornish scenery in the remaking of Poldark, trips to the filming locations at Charlestown Harbour, Bodmin Moor and the mine workings at Wheal Coates make a great day out. For those fans of Doc Martin the quaint harbour village of Port Issac (Portwenn) on the stunning north coast is well worth a visit.
Alongside the spectacular filming locations, Cornwall boasts a wealth of amazing food establishments run by world renowned chefs including Rick Stein, Jamie Oliver and Nathan Outlaw. Cornwall has a multitude of artisan food producers offering specialist breads, cheeses, meat alongside cider and wine. There are regular farmers markets throughout the county and specialist fish and food festivals too.
Guests are welcomed with a Cornish Cream Tea and welcome hamper of local produce. A proper start to a Cornish holiday, where a week’s stay probably won’t be long enough!
