After being inspired by the Paralympic Cycling and Triathlon Teams who trained for Rio whilst staying at Brickhouse Farm Holiday Cottages, Proprietors Sue and Ian Rainford were proud to host the EMpowered Cyling Group last weekend whilst they bravely cycled over 150 miles in the Lanes of Lancashire!  Brickhouse’s accessible holiday accommodation was the base for all 50 riders some with amputations and conditions such as acquired brain injuries and parkinson’s disease.

Sue and Ian’s daughter Charlotte, who sustained brain injuries after a local road traffic accident, cycled the gruelling challenge from Walney Island right around the coast to Blackpool Tower and beyond.  The 3600 foot of incline, the driving rain, the sore stumps and pain barriers were pushed to a limit…..just amazing!  Their reward was a soak in the accessible hot tubs at Brickhouse Farm Holiday Cottages,  a hog roast and live band whilst overlooking the fishing lake whilst being assisted by the local Scouting Group.

Sue and Ian said “Thank you for every whoop and clap, every one encouraged the riders to push through the barrier and to smash their own personal bests! Each and every rider and member of the support team….you are amazing!”
