Clearwell Mobility and Brighton & Hove Walking Football Club have hosted the third Clearwell Cup at Longhill Sports Centre, Brighton.

The walking football tournament was open to all clubs across the UK and this year it attracted teams from North Wales, London and Canterbury, as well as across the Sussex. The Clearwell Cup aims to promote walking football as a sport and encourage more people to stay active for longer.

The South East’s leading supplier of mobility and home healthcare products has been sponsoring Brighton & Hove Walking Football club since 2015, and the cup since 2017.

Duncan Gillett, Managing Director at Clearwell Mobility, said: “It is a great pleasure to continue to sponsor the Clearwell Cup and Brighton & Hove Walking Football Club.

“It was fantastic to see twelve teams playing this year and I am sure the sport, and its following, will continue to grow. Staying active as you get older is a great way to keep fit and be part of a like-minded community. I’m looking forward to seeing more teams compete next year!”

This year’s winners included Worthing Seniors, Brighton Dolphins, Preston Park and Newhaven.

Chairman of the Brighton & Hove Walking Football Club, Jobe Berrington, added: “The Clearwell Cup is fast becoming the tournament of the year and it’s been fantastic to see the event grow year-on-year. The tournament was played in good spirit, with some excellent football on show and I encourage people to get in touch with the club if they’d like to give it a go.”

The club meets three times a week in Brighton, Preston Park and Moulsecoomb and for more information about how to get involved, please visit the website at www.brightonwfc.com.
