Cassidy Little, who carried the Olympic torch through Peterborough in 2012, will partner professional dancer Natalie Lowe in the Strictly Come Dancing Comic Relief special.

The 33-year-old from Market Deeping used to be an avid dancer.

After losing his right leg below the knee whilst on tour in 2011, the former Royal Marine medic’s first words were: “Well, there goes my tap-dancing days.”

However, for the first time in Strictly history, Cassidy will join five members of the public in starring on the hit BBC show.

Chosen for their tireless charity work, the contestants will be competing to be crowned champion for a special four-part series in honour of Comic Relief.

Cassidy said: “The assumption is recovery happens after injury, and then once recovery’s over, it’s all better.

“But I will spend the rest of my life adapting to the world I knew.

“Since being injured I’ve done some incredible things, and this is another incredible experience which just pulls me along that pathway.”
