Yorkshire-based Acorn Stairlifts is the first stairlift manufacturer to be accepted into the number one marque of British manufacturing, ‘Made in Britain’.
The Made in Britain campaign recognises and supports businesses that manufacture in Britain, enabling buyers and consumers at home and abroad to identify British-made products.
Acorn’s membership of ‘Made in Britain’ comes in the year that saw it announce an industry first following its Trustmark accreditation for installation and customer care, secure three regional accolades at the Engineering Employers Federation Future Manufacturing Awards and being recognised for its positive impact on the community, education, economy and the environment through the West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce ‘Raising the Bar’ Awards.
Employing more than 1,400 staff worldwide and celebrating 20 years in business, Acorn Stairlifts operates its core manufacturing out of Steeton in West Yorkshire. Its design and construction includes the innovative FastTrack system that allows the company to install a stairlift on a non-standard curved staircase faster than any of its competitors.
Company Secretary Dave Belmont said: “Our manufacturing operation is such that we now export to 80 countries and every nine minutes, an Acorn stairlift is installed somewhere in the world.”
He added: “Acorn prides itself on its manufacturing efficiencies and expertise and we are delighted to be recognised by and accepted as a member of ‘Made in Britain’, an organisation which underpins our own values of supporting and developing our home-grown manufacturing industry.”
John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain said: “We are delighted to have Acorn Stairlifts as a member of the Made in Britain Campaign. Acorn is an exceptional success story and, like so many members of the campaign, a exemplary employer, exporter and model of responsible, principled business. We are looking forward to working closely with the marketing and sales teams at Acorn to help them raise awareness of their innovative stairlifts by applying the award-winning Made in Britain marque to their products, packaging and on-line.”
