Join us for the inaugural Alf Morris Lecture and hear the renowned journalist and former Sunday Times editor Sir Harold Evans talk of his life-long friendship with one of our greatest social reformers, The Rt Hon The Lord Morris of Manchester AO QSO.
Sir Harold will celebrate Alf’s historic work on behalf of older and disabled people, enshrined in his Chronically Sick & Disabled Persons Act (1970). This legislation – the first of its kind anywhere in the world – has been described as the Magna Carta for people with disabilities.
In addressing Alf’s legacy, Sir Harold will also consider what is yet to be done if we are to build a truly compassionate society and secure a dignified future for us all.
The Lecture and subsequent Q&A will be chaired by Victoria Macdonald, Channel 4’s award-winning Health & Social Care Correspondent.
It will be preceded by a drinks reception and followed by a dinner
in aid of The Alf Morris Fund for Independent Living. This will provide older and disabled people with the help and advice they need to live independently at home.
Tickets may be booked for all or part of the evening, and seats for the Lecture can be acquired for a set price of £25.00 or a voluntary donation of whatever you choose.
