Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle specialists Brotherwood have recently expanded their incredible range of WAVs to include a unique new conversion of the Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer. Offering a class-leading 60 inches of internal headroom, and 60 inches of entry height, the Brotherwood Ex-i-60 conversion caters for wheelchair users of almost any height.
The Brotherwood conversion is cleverly engineered to create a 52” long, flat, level lowered floor section, which enables the wheelchair passenger to travel centrally within the vehicle between 2 comfortable full-size passenger seats. This central wheelchair position is a crucial part of the Brotherwood ethos of creating WAV conversions that offer social inclusion for the wheelchair user to travel as part of the family. Travelling centrally within the vehicle also creates a smoother ride for the wheelchair user, while the unique lowered floor design lowers the passenger’s centre of gravity for a reduced sensation of ‘body roll’ when cornering. As an added bonus all-round visibility for the wheelchair user is improved, making every journey more enjoyable.
Larger families or groups can also enjoy the unique Brotherwood conversion, with the addition of 2 optional third-row seats. When equipped, up to 7 individuals including 1 wheelchair user can travel together in comfort and inclusion. Even with the third row seats in place, wheelchairs up to 27” in width can still easily access the central travelling position via the intelligently designed multi-fold lowering floor section.
Built into the rear of the conversion, the multi-fold lowering rear floor section can be deployed in seconds to create a simple, easy to use access point for the wheelchair user. Once the wheelchair user is inside the vehicle, the rear section can be neatly folded to create a flat ‘boot’ area where bags or luggage can be stored.
The Mercedes-Benz Vito Tourer on which the Ex-i60 conversion is built enjoys all of the hallmarks of a quality Mercedes-Benz product. Available in a choice of models, the Vito Tourer comes with a great specification as standard, with a host of comfort and safety features including cruise control, unique Mercedes-Benz driver assistance programs such as attention assist, and can be luxuriously equipped with air conditioning, alloy wheels, plus a host of additional features and personalization options. Add in the comfort, intelligent design, and high build quality that you expect from any Mercedes-Benz, and the Vito Tourer is transformed into a uniquely appealing Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle that is sure to meet even the most demanding needs.
