Blue Badge Style Announces Royal Academy of Music scholarship for musicians with disabilities with a unique inclusive concert.

To celebrate the launch of a new music scholarship established by Blue Badge Style for musicians with disabilities at the Royal Academy of Music, an inclusive concert in central London is being held to raise further funds for the 2015/16 academic year. The multi-genre event, on 14 April, will be a showcase for an eclectic mix of disabled and able-bodied talent. Several acts have already signed up to play, including blind soprano Cristina Jones and James Christie featuring Shooting Suns (alternative/pop).

To promote the scholarship, Blue Badge Style has created a unique “Mix” concert in conjunction with Aldwych Sinfonia, (a democratic orchestra that uses no formal conductor, rather a member of the orchestra conducts at each concert). It will be a concert of inclusion where no genre is left out and no physical ability is excluded — the BBS Mix! From jazz to folk, funk, classical, soul and beyond, the concert will have something for everyone.

The concert is taking place at St George’s church in Bloomsbury. The venue has been chosen because it is emblematic of the concert’s ethos in that, despite being an old Hawksmoor church, it is fully accessible for disabled people.

To top things off, Blue Badge Style will also be launching their new look website and App that finds cool places to visit and rates on their style. It’s the only service that considers the importance of style as well as providing access information. There will be a champagne reception at 7pm, before the concert to celebrate the launch.

The BBS Mix Concert looks set to be London’s most inclusive concert of the year and has an important message behind it too!

Emmy and Brit awarded composer and broadcaster, Howard Goodall, has added his support to the BBS MIX Concert, taking time out from his preparations for the upcoming ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ musical saying: “I applaud the efforts of Blue Badge Style in establishing the scholarship. Musicians with disabilities often incur extra costs in following their dreams and nurturing their talent. The celebration of such an inclusive and eclectic concert supporting the scholarship will certainly go some way to helping with such costs.”

The BBS ‘MIX’ Concert takes place on 14th April, 7.30pm at St Georges Church, Bloomsbury WC1A 2SA.
