The West Lothian ME Self Help Charity enjoyed a fantastic day out late last month courtesy of The Seagull Trust. The Union Canal is a beautiful place to walk along the towpaths and take in the scenery and local wildlife but it is even more enjoyable from the comfort of a canal cruise barge.

They set sail on a beautifully sunny Sunday afternoon for a 1.5 hour cruise along the canal on one of The Seagull Trust’s 12 seater canal barges. These are operated entirely by volunteers and they offer the cruises free of charge to people with special needs.

Claire, one of the service users and long serving trustees commented “It was a fantastic day out. Not too long for us and it really helps to be out in the peace and tranquillity of the canal setting. We will definitely come again.”

WLMESH is a local charity which was set up to give advice and support to West Lothian residents who suffer from the debilitating conditions, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and/or Chronic fatigue Syndrome.
