Atlas BS Battery Hoist
Input Mobility has balanced a combination of innovative engineering and high quality components in a hoist which allows wheelchair users to transfer easily, for example, to and from their car, bed, shower, toilet or bath. The hoist can be used both indoors and outdoors and pulled into position on simple casters; after use it folds down into a bundle no bigger than a reasonably sized sports bag.
Simple to operate by one person, the battery operated hoist utilizes electronic controls and a hydraulic piston and is capable of lifting up to 120kg (19 stone) and does not require structural modifications to the home whilst the manual operated hoist is capable of lifting 100kg (16 Stone). The hoist is easy to assemble and doesn’t require skills to operate and is covered by a 2 year parts and labour guarantee.
The Atlas Personal Hoist makes a difficult and delicate job comfortable and safe for both carer and patient. Lifting patients properly requires skill and experience by trained professionals, so the Atlas hoist now means that carers don’t have to rely or wait on other people to help patients, they can now do it themselves. As well as being suitable for operating in relatively small spaces such as the bathroom, the Atlas hoist is a patient facing hoist meaning that reassuring eye contact can be maintained at all times during the transfer. Because the patient is kept in a comfortable, supported and dignified seating position there is no ‘cringe’ or embarrassment factor for the patient either.

WIN! TAKE TO THE AIR!
Ever wanted to learn to fly? Want to reach for the skies? Able magazine has teamed up with the British Disabled Flying Association and Flying Scholarships for the Disabled to offer a one-hour introductory flying lesson for three lucky readers!
There’s nothing quite like the freedom of the skies. Taking control of an aircraft is an experience you’ll never forget, and this time it could be you.
Your lesson with the British Disabled Flying Association (BDFA) will be at Lasham Airfield, near Alton in Hampshire. The BDFA works hard to make sure that flying is accessible to all; their aircraft are fitted with hand controls for lower limb disabilities, they have a hoist for those unable to transfer from wheelchair to seat, and instructors have plenty of experience of people with learning difficulties and sensory impairment.
On your free introductory hour-long flight, you’ll be given the necessary guidance from an expert BDFA instructor – and then, once airborne, you’ll be given control of the aircraft for a thrill of a lifetime.
If, after your introductory one hour lesson, you’d like to continue learning to fly you can do so by joining the BDFA and/or by applying for a flying scholarship with Flying Scholarships for the Disabled. This applies to all Able magazine readers – not just our lucky competition winners!
